Eagles beat Dogs 10-9 in Regional Semifinal!

Natalie Sochacki scored FIVE goals in Wednesday night's win over Brighton
Hartland junior Natalie Sochacki scored FIVE goals in Wednesday night's win over Brighton.

On the same field that Hartland lost in overtime to Brighton last year in the regional playoffs, this year was a different story. Hartland beat Brighton 10-9 Wednesday afternoon to advance to the Regional Finals this Saturday, June 2. It's the second win over Brighton this year — only further intensifying the heated rivalry going into next year. Ahhh... sweet revenge. (Just teasing Brighton, you guys played great.)

Hartland junior Natalie Sochacki played like she was having an out-of-body experience — scoring FIVE goals in the win and making moves never seen before in post-season play. Ryan Skomial added three goals, while Haley Crouse and Courtney Lee each added one goal.

After going into halftime with a 6-3 lead, Hartland slowly let Brighton back in the game — at one point Brighton was within one goal of tying the score at 9. But senior Courtney Lee added the last Hartland goal to give us a 10-8 lead with a couple minutes left in the game. Brighton marched down and scored again, but Hartland was able to hold on and take the 10-9 victory.

While I don't have stats on goalie Tabitha Ferguson, she made a few very crucial saves to help preserve the win. Way to go Tabs!

Next up: the winner of the Grand Blanc vs Clarkston game (played Thursday). Our game will be on Saturday at 10:00am back at Lake Orion High School.

Go Eagles!
