Varsity loses in heartbreaker, 11-9

Kelsey LaValley deflects one of 27 shots on goal
Kelsey LaValley deflects one of 27 shots on goal in Wednesday's 11-9 loss to Huron Valley.

The last time these two teams met Hartland stumbled in the first half then battled back to take the lead only to lose by one point in the final seconds of the game. This time Hartland was ready for Huron Valley. Playing their normal, physical style of play, Hartland set the tone early in the game. Leading at half time 4-2, Hartland was poised to avenge their loss earlier in the season.

After both teams called time-outs late in the game, and Hartland holding on to a two-point lead, Huron Valley's offense somehow sliced through our defense and found a way to score four goals in the final minutes of play.

Leading all Hartland scorers was Ashley Stoltenberg with three goals. Anna Lundwall added two; and Nikki Cerovec, Rachel Sharpe, Natalie Sochacki and Haley Crouse each added a goal. Kelsey LaValley faced 27 shots on goal.

It was an emotional loss for our girls who were so close to pulling-off the sweet revenge. However, as it turns out, we MAY end up facing them again in the first round of the playoffs. Oh're NOT going to want to miss that game.
